Backflow testing FAQs

Questions about backflow testing

Questions Jericho, NY property owners ask about backflow testing and backflow prevention.

Talk to a person
Who is allowed to test my backflow device?
A tester who holds a backflow tester certification recognized by your state or your water utility. Many utilities keep an approved tester list and reject reports signed by anyone not on it.
Will my water be off during the test?
Yes, briefly. The tester closes the shutoff valves on the assembly while reading the checks, so water downstream of the device is off until the test is done.
What does a failed backflow test mean?
A check valve or the relief valve did not hold its required pressure differential. The device needs repair or replacement, then a retest before a passing report can be filed.
How much does backflow testing cost in Jericho, NY?
Pricing depends on device type, size and the local market. Call (833) 990-5874 for current pricing on backflow testing in Jericho, NY.
Is fire sprinkler backflow testing different?
Yes. Along with the standard check valve test, NFPA 25 calls for an annual forward flow test on fire line backflow assemblies. Results often go to both the water utility and the fire authority.
